We’ve collected feedback from some of y’all about how you want Storytell to work. This update beings changes to how Storytell responds to your questions and improvements on a known bug affecting artifacts.

Chat Mode & Agentic Mode

We've created two distinct ways to work with your knowledge, and we’d love to get your feedback on how these fit your workflows:

Fast, budget-friendly answers

• Perfect for: Daily research, quick questions about your files, instant insights when you're working fast

• Why you'll love it: It's like having a conversation with your smartest colleague who knows all your documents by heart

• How it works: Ask your question, get your answer — simple, direct, and draws from everything in your knowledgebase

• Great for users who: Want to conserve credits for bigger projects or need rapid-fire insights throughout the day

✨ Agentic Mode

Full-powered AI that searches, browses, and creates deliverables

• Perfect for: Deep research projects, building presentations, complex analysis, creative work

• Why you'll love it: It pulls together information from everywhere — your assets AND the web — then creates exactly what you need

• How it works: Let it analyze, synthesize, and build. Think of it as your research assistant and creative partner rolled into one

• Great for users who: Need comprehensive deliverables and want AI that can handle multi-step workflows

How to switch: Look for the toggle next to your prompt bar — speech bubble for Chat Mode, sparkles for Agentic Mode. That's it!

Artifacts open in read-only mode by default

No more crashes when viewing your generated content

We fixed an issue where artifacts generated by Storytell could crash when trying to display in edit mode. Now, all generated artifacts open in a read-only view first.

What changed:

• Artifacts display immediately without loading issues

• Content renders consistently across different document types

• Edit mode is just one click away when you need it (look for the "Edit" button)

Prompt bar UI changes

We’ve also made visual changes to the prompt bar specifically to the AI model selector and credit usage counter
